The Cameron Family was one of the lucky parents to receive a gift certificate from their friends, and took advantage of my brand new 2012 boutique sessions to photograph their new arrival. Baby Lucy was wonderfully sleepy through her session, and I’m in love with her photos. She’s quickly become one of my favourite babies.

My brand new little girl Zephyra is now 5 months old… coming up on six! I’ve been taking regular photographs of her each month to put together in a book when she gets older to show how she grew and changed. These were my favourites from her five month shoot.

I was supposed to shoot mama Claudia’s maternity session, and her birth… but unfortunately baby Dash came very quickly and unexpectedly so we missed both! In fact, we were booked in for her maternity the day after she went into labour at 38 weeks… but someone had other plans.

So we’re making up for Dash’s impatient nature with some family sessions over the next year, so I get to watch baby Dash grow and enjoy his mom, dad and big sister Naima. This first session was a mini slipped into a busy weekend to make sure we got some of Dash’s newborn-ness before he outgrew that at lightning speed… and with a little monkey nickname how could I not break out the monkey gear? All monkey supplies lovingly hand-crafted by the amazingly talented Elsie Brown at Baby Oopies creations available on Saltspring Island, or by custom orders at her website: http://www.babyoopies.com .

This was an out-take… but I love it!

I drove into Vancouver to take these once-in-a-lifetime family portraits of Dina and her whole family as they all came and met up in the area for the first time in years. We wandered around a beautiful park in New Westminster, Vancouver and found some great scenic spots to shoot in front of.

Who says big family pictures have to be boring?

Baby Owen came a little bit earlier than he intended to, but healthy and happy regardless. I was so excited to meet him… he’s a little redhead just like my first daughter! I have a terrible weakness for redheads.

I took Alexia’s maternity photos with my nine day old baby in a sling so we could make sure to get them done in time for birth… and boy were we lucky, she went into labour just days later even though she wasn’t due for over a month! Congratulations Alexia on your peaceful homebirth. Here are some highlights from her bump session in her home and out at Saxe Point.

Mini sessions going on at Goldstream this weekend!

You may have noticed this blog feeling rather empty, and that’s largely because of my extended maternity leave. I’m starting to open up more bookings now, as my baby is now approaching six months. I’ve had a lot of interest in mini-sessions for holiday cards and portraits, so I’m devoting the next two weekends to them!

If you’ve been wanting some updated portraits but want to save some money for a holiday shopping spree, mini sessions are perfect for you.
$85 gets time and talent for half an hour at an outdoor location, plus a finished 8×10 and full resolution digital file (same image) for printing at your leisure! There will also be special deals on mini-session print and CD packages… stay tuned!

Family mini-sessions are going on this weekend at Goldstream park! I have a few openings left this weekend, but you’ll have to confirm your booking by Thursday night (Friday afternoon at the absolute latest!).

I can also squeeze someone in for a 3:45pm if needed.

A new face | victoria bc baby newborn photographer

There’s a new face in my family… and it’s a beautiful one.

No, she’s not mine (mine isn’t due until May/June!), but she is my very first niece! My brother and his wife had their first child, a gorgeous baby girl on the morning of October 18th. I came in to take her newborn portraits when she was about 12 days old. Expect to see a lot of Sophia on this blog, especially while I wait for my own to arrive.

And for a fortunate change… grandma! I so rarely manage to get grandma in the newborn session, it’s always fun to have extra family join in.

On a personal note: sessions, jobs and blog updates will be coming a little more slowly than usual for a little while! My pregnancy has been an exceptionally difficult one thus far, and it has thrown a wrench in my normal work schedule. For those clients awaiting orders, a delay is expected, and for those awaiting a reply on session inquiries, please have patience as my normal reply time has gone up from 1 day to 3 days average as I catch up and rearrange my schedule to keep up.
The amount of sessions that can be booked per month will be limited through next summer, so if you plan on having some family portraits taken make sure you get in soon! I’ll only be taking on a few families per month until further notice, and those spots will be all booked up very quickly. Dates are currently being reserved 3-4 weeks in advance minimum, so unfortunately this means that we’re almost done for portraits in time for Christmas! I do have three openings left, so jump on in if you’ve been waiting.
